June 7 marks 58 years after the statue for Persian poet and one of the world’s greatest literary giants, Ferdowsi, was installed in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
Designed by Iranian artist Abolhassan Sadighi and unveiled in 1959, the great marble artwork is located in the middle of Tehran Ferdowsi square.
Ferdowsi street is one of the historic places of the capital with several banks, embassies, money changers, shoe shops are housed in the area.
Persian literature with a huge repository of masterpieces by the likes of Ferdows has wielded immense influence on world literatures.
Completed in 1010, the Shahnameh is an epic Persian poem of nearly 60,000 verses by great Iranian literary master Ferdowsi.
